Maikel Aren is the founder of Piel Poética, and his career did not begin in tattooing, but in graffiti. It was years spent understanding line, form and visual impact in the urban environment that shaped his vision, which he eventually decided to transfer to the most intimate and permanent canvas: the skin.
Every day at our studio in Torrevieja, Maikel has developed an approach to tattooing that steers clear of the hustle and bustle and mass production. He prefers the introspection and tranquillity of his own private studio, where the creative process can flow uninterrupted.

Does getting a tattoo in certain areas hurt?
The amount of pain you feel will depend on where you get the tattoo. We do our utmost to make sure it stings as little as possible: we take breaks, change positions, suggest different spots for you to consider… And, of course, we always use the best tattooing technique.
How we maintain hygiene in the studio
We follow strict sterilisation and disinfection protocols at every session. We use disposable needles and single-use equipment, cover work surfaces, and prepare the skin with antiseptic before we begin. And of course, the inks we use comply with current regulations and have been thoroughly tested on all skin types.
How long does it take for a tattoo to heal?
It really depends on the size, location and aftercare. Your tattoo artist will give you clear instructions on washing, moisturising and protecting your tattoo from the sun, clothing and so on. We’re always here to answer any questions you may have, either via message or in person at our studio.
Do you provide quotes via WhatsApp or over the phone?
We can offer some guidance if you send us your idea, photos and approximate measurements, although we’ll finalise the quote at our studio once we’ve seen the space and fine-tuned the design. Do you work with signals?
Due to the high demand for our tattoo artists and the fact that we book specific slots for you each day and at specific times, we do ask for a deposit. If you need to reschedule your appointment, please let us know in advance and we’ll find a new date.
